Wayfinding Signs Guide Explorers Along the Carquinez Strait Scenic Loop Trail

The Carquinez Strait Scenic Loop Trail (CSSLT) has a new series of interpretive and wayfinding panels to help visitors and residents navigate and learn about the region’s diverse natural and cultural history. Led by the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, this project links a magnificent mosaic of public lands and the historic waterfront communities of Vallejo, Benicia, Martinez, Port Costa, and Crockett.

he CSSLT Working Group—a collaborative effort of five regional trails including the San Francisco Bay Trail and the Great California Delta Trail—aims to provide safe, continuous access for hiking, biking, and human-powered boating around the Carquinez Strait.

The organization chose Pannier as its signage manufacturer because they offered a solution that stayed within budget while demonstrating clear attentiveness to the project’s complex needs.

The project’s success was a testament to the close partnership between the client and Pannier’s team. The client summarized their experience:

From design to installation, Pannier was attentive to our questions and concerns. This was a very detailed project with many different pieces, and Pannier worked closely with us throughout the process to ensure everything was correct. Even after delivery, when we needed minor adjustments to meet safety standards, Pannier quickly responded and sent us adaptive hardware that resolved our issues.

This signage initiative was funded by the Solano Transportation Authority’s Wayfinding Signage Grant Program. By facilitating access to this vital regional network, the new signs support the Bay Area Ridge Trail’s goal of opening 550 miles of multi-use trail for explorers.
