Transforming Chester's Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park in the City of Chester, PA, has undergone a significant transformation from a flood-prone area into a vibrant, functional public space. A community-based partnership between the Stormwater Authority of the City of Chester (SAC) and Corvias Infrastructure Solutions (CIS) implemented green stormwater infrastructure to address decades of flooding and improve water quality.

To ensure the community understands the vital enhancements, new educational signage from Pannier was installed throughout the 20-acre park. The signs inform residents about the crucial role of effective and sustainable stormwater management solutions in improving community quality of life. The project included the installation of a 2.4-acre retention basin, new native plantings, a boardwalk with an observation deck, and a walking trail.

The project successfully resolved long-standing flooding issues while expanding recreational and educational features, creating an accessible public space that will benefit the community for generations.
